About Youlia
Youlia Tkatchouk was born in Lviv, Ukraine. She earned her Masters of Fine Arts
degree from the
Lviv
Academy of Fine Art. Youlia studied under the renowned set designer Evhen Lysyk, main artist of
the
Lviv
Opera Theatre and worked under mosaic masters in Ravenna, Venice, and Kyiv.
She enjoys working in many different genres and mediums; painting, drawing, sculpture, mosaic
and
paper
cutting. Youlia is inspired and influenced by the beauty of nature. Her artwork embodies organic
forms
and emotions, it invites the viewer to explore their relationship to nature and create their own
meaning. In 2008, her award winning installation “Trilogy” won Best in Show for the
International
SAMA
and prestigious Prism Award.
Today Youlia’s works can be found in a myriad of private and public collections both in the
United
States and abroad. Youlia shares her talents and knowledge by teaching private classes and
workshops.
She strives to help each student bring out their creative and artistic side. Her workshops
reflect
her
whimsical and artistic personality. Youlia currently resides and works in Chicago with her
husband
and
two sons.
